You Don't Need to be a Pilot

My Maiden Blog
Having just turned 47, I am wondering how my life, my sense of reality, and the many beliefs I treasure about our great nation have been so shaken to the core, almost overnight.  With an incredible wife, two young daughters under three years of age and my first son being born in two months, my weekly blogs will serve to maintain my sanity, record a sense of rational history for my children and hopefully, connect with a wider audience that relates to me as an "ordinary" American.

Without my faith in God, the sound beliefs bestowed by my loving parents, my Reagan-inspired military service, and my diversified experiences in the business world, I would be a complete basket case.  Today and every day since Obama-mania has swept our national pop culture, I am witnessing a never ending combination of idealistic, inept and downright dangerous pseudo-intellectuals attempting to fly our country with no observable flight skills.  I have the sense of a helpless, frightened passenger on one of the hi-jacked airliners on 9-11.  I realize that many Americans are on board this nightmare flight with me.  I feel scared, filled with a heightened awareness yet mentally numb, and realize that purposeful action must be taken because a failure to take action will result in certain death.  The certain death of my nation's heritage, its way of life, a prosperous future for my children and liberty for mankind around the world.

An Aviation Analogy
Airline passengers having completed a flight do not need a sophisticated knowledge of aeronautical engineering, meteorology, flight systems or air traffic control procedures to make an informed determination of their just completed flight.  Passenger judgment requires a rather simple, first person experience to determine whether their flight was enjoyable and uneventful or filled with chaos and disaster. Yet, many in our main stream media and political class purposefully attempt to persuade average passengers to ignore common sense and trust the pundit's "expert analysis" regarding a particular flights' success or failure. These "experts" will attempt to convince passengers that without formal flight training you can't possibly understand the complexities of aviation. You are uneducated in advanced meteorology and you lack the sophistication to understand the enormous complexities of aerodynamics.  Only pundits are sophisticated enough to tell you if your flight was actually successful, if the pilots obeyed the rules, the in-flight risks were minimized, and the rate you paid for your travel was "fair".  How could you possibly know if the flight's co-pilot is a racist, the Captain is a registered libertarian or how devastating the airline's carbon footprint is to the global environment?  You see, only enlightened intellectuals controlling the power levers of our imperial federal government can render an accurate, final judgment on your flight.  You see?  We're all simpletons and we should surrender our collective daily judgments to all-knowing intellectuals, on all matters large and small, for the collective good of society.

Tip of the Hat to Tea Parties
More than 2,000 tea parties across the United States of America will be held on April 15, 2009.  Allow that profound statement to sink in for a moment.  A bottom-up citizen revolt, led by no party, no "leader", and without American precedent, will manifest itself with more than one million participants collectively shouting, "Enough!"  Our government has grown unchecked, unrestricted and without discipline for more than 100 years. Government is intrusive, destructive, inefficient, amoral and lacks all ability to reduce, reform or innovate.  Government is, for the most part, the root cause of social decay, poor public education, financial market chaos, and the ultimate destroyer of individual liberties.  Power hungry control freaks from both political parties seek control over the lives of fellow citizens and they always will.  The American natives are beyond restless and pseudo-intellectuals in our political and media class are ignoring this percolating citizen movement at their own peril.  I only pray this revolt culminates in reducing our government to its proper scale and purpose as brilliantly designed by our Founding Fathers.

Please visit www.taxdayteaparty.com and make an effort to attend a local rally this Wednesday.  Bring a friend with you.  You'll be amazed at the kindred spirits you'll meet and the historical significance this date will represent in the rear view mirror of history.
